Today Laser Lines is represented at the Association of Industrial Laser Users’ meeting at Cranfield. The meeting is titled “Additive Manufacturing Workshop” and in the exhibition area we are displaying samples of metal parts which have been 3D PRINTED on a SLM Solutions Selective Laser Melting system and examples of LASER CLADDING to illustrate the advantages of this technology.
The cladded parts have been produced using one of the systems manufactured by German company Laserline. This technique uses Diode Lasers which produce higher quality results than achievable by conventional technology. Corrosion issues and wear protection are chief applications for Laser Cladding – particularly in the automotive and oil drilling industries. Welding repairs on damaged coatings are another obvious application. The combination of low dilution rate and low heat input results in an optimum connection which increases productivity.
SLM Solutions are one the World’s major suppliers of metal powder 3D Printers. They utilize a unique technique incorporating twin laser beams for improved production and part quality and offer the opportunity to build parts in Aluminium, Titanium, Cobalt-Chrome, Stainless Steel, Tool Steel and Inconel.
