About the Company

Over 35 Years of History

Located in the heart of the Quebec Optical Hub, in beautiful Quebec City, Canada, Gentec-EO has a long history in the laser measurement field with over 35 years of experience.

As a former laser manufacturer, Gentec-EO knows the needs of its customers. In fact, our first laser energy meter has been initially developed for internal use as we were putting the first high rep. rate TEA CO 2 lasers on the market in 1970. Gentec, Inc. introduced the first pyroelectric joulemeters shortly after that. Gentec, Inc. was also the first to manufacture both thermopile and pyroelectric joulemeters and wattmeters.

In the mid 1990s we introduced the WB series with an average power density damage threshold of 100 kW/cm² that is still unrivalled. In 2000, Gentec Electro-Optics, Inc. was formed from Gentec, Inc. so that we could focus entirely on laser measurement.

Technical Expertise

Their dedicated Research and Development team work hard to bring you the ultimate damage threshold of 100 kW/cm2. This superior performance guarantees you reliability and durability for your power measurements.

With their custom made large calorimeters, they have solved laser pulse energy
measurement problems for some of the biggest lasers in the world – the inertial confinement fusion lasers. Their largest calorimeter up to now has a 420 x 427 mm aperture and can take up to 5000 Joules of pulsed energy!

Gentec E-O also offer the smallest complete pyroelectric joulemeter in the world, only 20 mm in diameter and 29 mm deep!
