Space
Instruments used in harsh environments such as outer space must be durable yet precise enough for the purposes of science. Iridian is the proud supplier of such high performance and reliable light absorbing thin film filters to the Canadian Space Agency. These light absorbers have been in use on the Space Shuttle for over 10 years.
Iridian's light absorbers (sometimes called black absorbers) reduce ambient reflected light within a specified wavelength range (UV to IR), and over a range of angles of incidence (0-450). They are particularly useful in applications where it is essential to provide a high contrast compared to another surface.
Iridian Space Advantage:
For space and other harsh environments, Iridian's light absorbers can be designed and fabricated for narrow or broad wavelength ranges between 400-2200nm. They use hard dielectric coatings that do not require cover glass for durability, which greatly improves their transmission levels, reliability and ease of handling for in comparison to traditional filters.
In addition, our light absorbers can be shipped with a sticky-back surface for easy application to different types of surfaces, and they are easily cut into different types of shapes.

High Volume Low Cost Coatings
Iridian has the capability for very high volume, fast turn-around and low cost coatings. The volume can be more than 8000 lenses per day depending upon component size and coating thickness. |
