“What kind of materials can lasers process?”
Our lasers can mark, engrave, drill, weld, cut and perforate a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, ceramics, glass, foam, gasket materials, wood, paper, textiles, rubber and many others.
“Do we need special technicians to run the laser?”
No. On the contrary, our lasers are extremely easy to operate and require no special training. Just set them up and let them do their job. It’s that simple. Very little maintenance is required.
“How big is a laser?”
The size of the laser head varies, depending on the model. However, the Datalogic Ulyxe laser marker starts from as small as 410mm.
“How much power will I need to cut/mark/weld/drill my material?”
Every application is different. The appropriate laser power depends on the specific material to be processed and speed required. We recommend that you send a sample of your material for trials in our applications lab, where our experts will determine the best laser for your application. “What kind of maintenance does a laser need?”
Most of our lasers require very little maintenance. The Synrad sealed CO2 laser requires no maintenance or additional consumables! Our high-power diode lasers from Laserline and laser markers from Datalogic require a simple annual maintenance check. That’s it!
“What sort of safety precautions do I need to take?”
Lasers are actually safer than most types of machinery. Precautions are very much dependent on your application. The primary danger of lasers comes from the possibility of the laser beam being reflected from the work surface. An enclosure appropriate to the laser type which completely contains the laser beam is the best solution.
“How long will the laser last?”
Synrad CO2 lasers can be expected to operate for tens of thousands of hours before a simple gas refill is required. Some of these lasers have passed 45,000 hours and are still going strong. Diode pumped solid state and high power direct diode lasers all feature very long lifetime diodes (>30K hours) which can be readily exchanged at the end of their life.
