Celebrations were seen here and in Sweden recently as the Laser Lines team installed the 10,000th laser from Cobolt, the Swedish manufacturer of high performance lasers for the analytical instrument market.

Laser Lines’ customer, Dr Sam Johnson of the Photonic Nanomaterials Group in the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford, was the recipient of the Cobolt Samba 532nm 300mW single frequency laser, to use as part of his team’s diamond nano-photonics research.
Dr Johnson adds: “We were looking for a laser to use in our scanning confocal microscope. We’ve used DPSS lasers in the past but this is our first from Cobolt, with our main reasons for choosing the Cobolt laser being the higher power on offer and the power stability.”
