After more than 45 years in the business, Laser Lines is still challenging industry norms and being the best in class. This time it’s not the products but the people. The Laser Lines team is expanding with five new people who have joined the 3D printing side of the business over the past few months.

Sandra Hall, managing director of Laser Lines, says: “Business is going really well, and we have restructured the teams so that we have specific people looking after customer service and sales. When we looked at the ratio of men to women and the gender split, we realised a third of our team are female, something we are really proud of.

“The International Women’s Day 2020 campaign theme is #EachforEqual and as a company, this is something we have pushed for and are continuing to do so.”

Sandra adds: “We are working in a traditionally very male-dominated industry but there are great opportunities for women in tech, engineering and 3D printing now. We like to think we are doing our own challenging of stereotypes, broadening perceptions, improving situations and celebrating women’s achievements.”

Hannah Veltom, Applications Technician at Laser Lines, says: “I love the fact that on a daily basis, I can be working with different technologies and customer requirements. It is quite different from my previous role as an architectural model maker as I am now much more hands-on with 3D printing technologies.”

Jayne Tyrtania, Materials and Contracts Manager, adds: “I’ve worked at Laser Lines for 26 years. It’s a great company to work for and it’s brilliant that we have some new team members. The company is very forward thinking and celebrates experts in the laser, photonics and 3D printing industries – no matter the gender. But for future generations, I’m really proud we are forging a new norm of women working in the tech and engineering industries.”

Alex Cuciureanu, Product Specialist – 3D Printing & AM Systems, who is one of the newest members of the team, adds: “I previously worked in the engineering industry, in finishing. I’m thrilled to have joined Laser Lines and love working in the 3D printing industry as it’s fast moving. I’m delighted that I have been able to join a team where there are so many successful women.”
